Canada-Beef and Veal Exports.
CANADA-BEEF AND VEAL EXPORTS ON THE RISE.
Canadian beef and veal exports are forecast to rise
above 400,000 metric tons in 2009, with expectations of increased sales to
Canada’s three largest destinations, according to the Canadian Beef Export
Federation. Canadian beef and veal exports this year are forecast to total
429,400 tons, worth an estimated C$1.507 billion, CBEF said in a biannual
report. That compares with 392,861 tons in 2008, 362,810 tons in 2007 and
521,467 tons in 2002, one year before the discovery of bovine spongiform
encephalopathy shut Canada out of most international markets.
