NEW BEEF PLANT.
Keystone Processors Ltd, have taken over the pork plant of Maple Leaf Foods in Manitoba, and are converting it into a beef plant.
The company will only be licensed for the local market, but hope to have full export approval by 2010.
The plant which was purchased in July of this year is having a $2.5 million facelift to make the conversion.
The company will start processing in early 2009, according to Kelly Penner, general manager who said, " the new corporate structure of the plant, allows us to accept cattle from all Manitloba farmers whether natural organic cattle or commercial cattle".
The company was previously known as Natural Beef Producers.
