Case launch new machines at Cereals Event
Two of Case IH's flagship machines make their UK show debut at the Cereals Event this year, highlighting the brand's commitment to the arable sector.
Powered by a 295kW (400hp) engine, the Case IH AFX 8010 rotary Combine achieves unprecedented levels of output and productivity. The Axial-FlowTM rotary design has always provided significant technological advantages in terms of simplicity, grain quality, grain savings and crop adaptability, but this latest model has been able to lift performance to a new level.
Improvements over previous models include a new 75cm (30-inch) AFX rotor that benefits from experience gained from the rotor designed for Case IH's 2388 X-Clusive model. It also features a novel configuration that provides massive threshing and separation areas.
All aspects of the AFX 8010 - including intake, cleaning system, grain tank size and unloading rates - have been geared to handle the fantastic capacity of this combine, which can be fitted with headers up to 9.15m wide. The feeder house opening has been widened to 1.37m, while at the other end of the improved rotor threshing system, the sieve area has been increased to 6.5m2. The cleaning system is also now self-leveling, compensating for side slopes of up to 17 degrees. The combine boasts a 10,500-litre grain tank, which can be emptied in just 100 seconds.
The new generation AFX Axial-FlowTM combine was named Machine of the year in the Combine category by the German agricultural press association DLV at Agritechnica last year.
Brand new to the UK is Case IH's biggest tractor, the STX500 Steiger. Perfectly reflecting the brand's long tradition of offering big, powerful machines, the new model offers up to 550hp and is ready to meet the demands from an arable industry hungry for more power in the drive to reduce crop establishment costs.
The largest tractor to have ever carried Case IH's distinctive red livery, the newcomer is powered by an electronically controlled, turbocharged, 15-litre Cummins engine. The STX500 is rated at 500hp at 2100rpm, but really comes into a class of its own when put under pressure. A torque rise of up to 39 per cent helps it through tough spots without the need to change down a gear, with the electronic injection system boosting the power by up to 50hp to pull the tractor through difficult conditions.
Transferring the power to the ground on the STX500 is the industry leading Case IH Quadtrac system. First introduced in 1996, it features four driven tracks which have been designed to pivot and oscillate for constant track-to-soil contact over any terrain.
The STX500 is available with either 76cm or 91cm track widths. The larger option offers ground pressure as low as 5.8 PSI by virtue of the 5.6 square metres of track in contact with the ground. This degree of flotation gives a smooth ride with less soil compaction, allowing better seed placement, a healthier root zone, uniform germination and higher yields.
Between the engine and the tracks sits an advanced Case IH full powershift transmission with shuttle which provides smooth, clutchless gear changes between any of the 16 forward and two reverse gears. With nine gears between 5kph and 13kph, the transmission offers optimum speeds for any job.
The powerful variable-flow hydraulic system can deliver up to 216 litres/minute through as many as five remote valves, which feature electro-hydraulic control for fingertip operation. For flexibility in coupling up to equipment, buyers can choose between drawbar-only or standard three point hitch variants with PTO as required.
Case IH gives unsurpassed levels of operator comfort in a tractor built for long hours of productivity. The unmatched SurveyorTM cab provides a full 6.3 square metres of tinted glass for unrivalled, all-round visibility. A one-piece, curved front windshield, narrow bonnet and slender steering column contribute to an exceptional view, while the back window has the same panoramic view to let you hook-up and watch the largest of implements.
