Chicken Chasseur voted Scotland’s top Chicken Dish

Chicken Chasseur has been voted Scotland's top chicken dish by the public.

A straw poll at the recent Enjoy the Taste of Scotland event, which took place in Glasgow's George Square and attracted 21,000 people, showed that on a dish per dish basis, chicken chasseur was the top choice.

Amongst those surprised by the results was chicken suppliers 2 Sisters Food Group.

Marketing Manager Alison Robb was stunned by the result. She said: "I wouldn't have thought chicken chasseur would have been a top choice for many, but there you go.

"When you tally up the answers we received per category, curry was the out and out winner, but when you break it down to actual dishes, chicken chasseur was the winner.

"The most popular curries were the usual suspects of kormas, tikka masala and tandoori but just edging them out was the far more traditional dish of chicken chasseur.

"It may be that reflects the demographic of the event or it may be that this classic dish is seeing a new found boost in popularity as more people get back into the kitchens to cook for themselves.

"And it's a dish that allows for a lot of variety as people get more experienced with cooking. You can vary the sauce to make it a heavier or lighter dish, so it really is a meal that's suitable for all year round.

"The great news for consumers across Scotland is that they can now enjoy the exotic flavours of international cuisine with the knowledge that they are using locally sourced and produced assured Scottish chicken.

"By buying branded Scottish chicken, from their local Tesco store, they can enjoy the best flavours from around the world and reduce their carbon footprint."

The top favourite chicken dishes in list of preference were: chicken chasseur, chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, plain chicken on a sandwich and chicken tandoori. Replies stating fast food dishes like KFC were discounted from the poll.
