China-New market for kangaroo meat.

CHINA-KANGAROO MEAT.

The Australian Agriculture Minister Tony Burke is in China, trying to convince the country’s leaders to allow his country to begin exporting kangaroo meat to Chinese gourmands.

Mr Burke is travelling with representatives from the meat industry who are confident of introducing one of Australia’s national symbols to the Chinese table.

"They are very optimistic that they see China as a future market," said Tony Burke.

But the kangaroo steak is up against food safety concerns from the Chinese government and entrenched competition from other exotic meats in Chinese cuisine.
