PORK COMPANY EXPANDS.

The giant Zhongpin pork processing company has taken over the lease on two new premises that came on line on January I 2009.

The agreement with the Jilin Hauzheng Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Development Co Ltd is to lease the abattoir in the city of Gongzhuling and the cutting plant and freezing works in Jilin.

The new facilities have capacity to freeze 30,000 tons of pork a year and 30% of the production will be for fresh chilled pork, that is becoming increasingly popular in China.

The company had been expanding its export market, especially to Russia in recent years, however in the light of the recent global slowdown, they are going to work more on the domestic market of China.

The CEO of Zhongpin Xianfu Zhu, said " We believe that the decision to strategically relocate the chilled meat operation will benefit our future growth".

The pork products in China have been relatively un-affected compared with domestic sales in other countries
