Collaboration increases efficiency

Crop protection, agronomy and consultancy company, Agrovista UK and the Perthshire based co-operative East of Scotland Farmers have announced a joint approach to distribution.

The two companies have announced their collaboration on the storage of agrochemicals, sharing a major distribution site at Coupar Angus to service an important part of the Scottish market. Both companies will continue to employ their own staff and drivers, therefore maintaining independent delivery services, but sharing the storage facility, which is owned by East of Scotland Farmers.

"This is natural and logical extension for the two companies, who have worked closely together for many years". Says Robin Barron, general manager for East of Scotland Farmers. He adds "This allows us access to a larger and more diverse range of products for our customers and help reduce our costs at the same time."

Agrovista have just announced the formation of a fruit agronomy and consultancy business, with a Perth based agronomist. This agreement will allow Agrovista to move more quickly into the soft fruit market, by stocking appropriate products and distributing them from a local base, closer to the primary cropping areas.

Agrovista logistics director John Lockett comments "This agreement allows both companies to share the ever increasing overheads and costs associated with storage of product. This allows us to improve efficiency and reduce costs in the business for the benefit of our customers. The central belt of Scotland is an important area for us, with business growing, we needed to expand distribution to service this market."
