Searing heat and south-western winds in central Quang Tri Province have led to serious drought and affected more than 6,000ha of rice paddies in the area over the past month.
Nearly 1,000ha has completely dried out, reported the provincial authorities. Gio Linh District suffered the most with an estimated loss of 500ha of rice paddies.
