WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) - A jury in Hamlin County has awarded two dairy farmers more than $1.4 million in damages in a lawsuit involving a faulty silage harvester made by Deere & Company.
Jim and Greg Moes own MoDak Dairy near Kranzburg. Their silage harvester caught fire and was destroyed while cutting corn in Hamlin County three years ago. No one was injured.
The Moes were awarded more than $400,000 for their loss and $1 million in punitive damages.
Their lawyer, Gary Jensen of Rapid City, says the jury stood up for MoDak Dairy and other farmers around the country with the verdict.
