DENMARK-APPLICATION FOR GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY FOR PORK INDUSTRY.

Danish pork producer Danish Crown has appealed to the parliament to change its position regarding export subsidies. Danish Crown would like to see a temporary export subsidy scheme to promote exports of pork to countries outside the EU. Several EU countries advocate export subsidies for pork but Denmark has so far said no.

Bjarne Laursen of the Social Democrats says that he is prepared to consider a temporary solution. One possibility could be to ask the Danish government to abstain from voting in the matter in the EU according to Laursen.
