European Union-Ban remains in place on American poultry.
EUROPEAN UNION.
USA POULTRY BAN.
There was a time, when all meat plants added chlorine to the water in the plant, as when washing the carcass after slaughter, it had the effect of making the fat on the meat very white.
This was outlawed and that was the end of that, except in the United States where the USDA still allowed to use of chlorine, and demanded that if this was the case then it must be right.
The European Union on the other hand, have banned the use of chlorine in meat plants, yet have no evidence that it is harmful in any way, after all it is used in tap water and drinking water all over the world.
The EU banned American poultry from entering the European Union in 1997, which is 11 years ago.
Neither side will back down, neither side has a valid case, equally the US do not have to use chlorine and the EU have no valid reason to ban it.
The outcome this week was, that the EU ban remains in place, entering into the twelth year.
