Experts help plan for the future at this year’s Dairy Event
KW Alternative Feeds, Keenan and Semex have joined forces to deliver yet another must-attend 'Advance & Thrive' event at this year's Dairy Event. The event is part of an ongoing programme of conferences and events funded by the businesses to support the advancement of British dairy and beef farmers.
At this years Dairy Event on the 19th and 20th of September Advance and Thrive will deliver seven ten-minute master classes, which give attendees practical advice on how to maintain the profitability of dairy and beef businesses in light of spiralling feed costs and uncertainty over farm incomes.
The sessions will take place in the Advance & Thrive Theatre in Cattle Shed 2, and will run from 9am until 5pm on both days. Attendance is totally free, and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
KW's Dr Richard Wynn will present practical feeding strategies to maximise the value obtained from milk contracts. Keenan Rumans nutrition consultant Mark Voss will discuss options for increasing feed conversion efficiency to offset rising feed costs and help preserve milk price rises.
Three steps to successful and balanced breeding will be outlined by Semex special projects manager John Stratton as a route to improving herd genetic potential, with Professor David Beever and KW's Dr Michael Marsden discussing how to improve the profitability of these cows through the use of innovative approaches to feeding.
Issues surrounding the use of this year's forage stocks and how to improve the performance of dairy-based beef enterprises will also be discussed.
