Falkland Islands-New Constitution.
ARGENTINA.
FALKLANDS ISLES.
Argentina sharply criticized Britain’s approval of a new constitution, for the disputed Falkland Islands, saying it had lodged a formal complaint with London, for which it had summoned the Charge d’Affairs in Buenos Aires."It constitutes a flagrant violation of the mandate accorded us by the United Nations",
Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Taina, said at a press conference, adding that Buenos Aires had formally filed a complaint to London.
" The Argentine government will denounce this violation of Argentine sovereignty and international law before the international community. Britain is trying to perpetuate an anachronistic colonial situation" the minister added.
The main industry of the islands is sheep farming, prior to the Falklands War, all the sheep went live to the meat plants in Patagonia in the south of Argentina.
Since the war, the sheep have been slaughtered on the Islands and heavily subsidized by the British government.
The skins were burnt, rather than be sold to the fellmonger’s in Argentina, the mutton and lamb is carried to England in containers, on board Ministry of Defense vessels.
The government of Great Britain, built a new state of the art EU approved abattoir on the Islands, that was opened in 2003.
