Give priority to agriculture ... Farmers tell LG boss

AS President Umar Yar’Adua intensify his administration’s efforts at making sure that the country emerge as one of the best twenty economies in the world by the year 2020 through his administration seven-points agenda in which agricultural development is one of them, an agricultural expert at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).

Ibadan, Dr. Alfred Gilbert Dixon has called on local government chairmen in the country to do all within their capacities to support and encourage practising farmers in rural areas so that the farmers can be encouraged and motivated to produce food on a large scale, adding that doing this will help in bringing down the high prices of food items and other agricultural produce and consumables in the country.
