Grant aids agriculture study

The Education Foundation of Niagara is giving a $4,000 grant towards agriculture education at District School Board of Niagara secondary schools.

Students in the agriculture program use e-learning and receive co-operative placements within the local wine and agriculture industry.

Originally, the program was only offered at five rural schools as part of the Lighthouse Project in 2006. All 22 DSBN secondary schools now offer the program.

"Agriculture impacts all areas of our society, from the food supply, to pharmaceuticals, the environment and our economy," agriculture project leader Laura Kozloski said in a news release.

"We appreciate this grant from the EFN, which will help students pursue this important discipline."
