Scottish Potato growers and packers will have the opportunity to question industry specialists on practical issues at the Fife Potato Day on July 19, at Over Rankeilour Farms, Cupar, Fife, KY15 4NA.
The day will include short technical talks and audiences will be encouraged to participate in the friendly discussions.
Growers from the region who are keen to know how they can improve industry competitiveness will have the opportunity to confer with independent consultant Bob Pringle on issues such as maximising storage and energy efficiency to increase profits.
Eric Anderson of Scottish Agronomy will also examine the benefits and drawbacks of fertilisers and how to use them to their best advantage.
"Practical discussions are really popular," says Potato Council technical executive Drummond Todd, who is organising the event. "Delegates will be able to interact with the speakers, asking questions about their concerns so they can maximise the benefit from access to these experts on the day."
The field and store-based day, held in association with Scottish Agronomy and Branston Scotland, will also hear about topics such as the new PCN directive (which became law on July 1), virus control and optimising seed rates.
