Help for IPPC producers
The NFU is hosting a series of workshops at Stoneleigh, York, Taunton and Newmarket to help IPPC pig and poultry producers who, in the next year, have to write ammonia reduction plans. As part of the determination process for IPPC applications, the Environment Agency identified some 76 farms that require additional improvements because of their proximity to or impact on habitats that are sensitive to ammonia. The workshops, lead by the Environment Agency, will cover how to complete an ammonia reduction plan and with the help of industry representatives, will cover techniques that farmers could consider to make the reductions needed.
The first of the workshops were held at Stoneleigh and York this week and will be followed by meetings on 1 December in Newmarket, 2 December in Taunton and 8 December back at Stoneleigh.
