Inquiry begins into chicken farm

A public inquiry has opened into controversial plans to build a massive chicken farm near Cupar in Fife.

More than 12,000 people have objected to the development, which would be built less than a mile from the town.

Local councillor Andrew Arbuckle said the number of objections had been among the largest he had seen during his time at Fife Council.

The inquiry follows the local farmer's appeal against a decision to refuse planning permission for the unit.

It is being held at County Buildings in the town.
