MILLIONS PAID TO FARMERS.

The Department of Agriculture in Ireland have confirmed that 35 million euros have already been paid to producers and processors in relation to the dioxin in pork scandal in December.

The Department has also confirmed that 80,000 pigs, have been slaughtered and disposed of without going into the food chain.

There are still 40,000 pigs and 4,500 cattle that are suspected of being contaminated, that have yet to be slaughtered according to Tom Moron ,secretary at the Department.

The break down of the payments are 10 million euros to primary processors, the abattoirs and the balance to secondary processors making bacon , sausage and small goods.

There have also been advance payments made to farmers.

When it takes 40 kilos of meat, to cause any problems to the digestion, questions are going to be asked for years to come, about this wanton waste of meat, while the people of Zimbabwe are eating elephant meat and in the Sudan rats and insects. Millions are starving across the horn of Africa, yet in Europe meat is being destroyed, has bureaucracy gone to far.
