Jamie disappointed over restaurant fowl up

JAMIE Oliver has been left with egg on his face after it was revealed that one of his restaurants was serving battery eggs to customers.

The discovery, made by a group of farmers visiting his Fifteen Cornwall restaurant, shocked the TV chef after he campaigned to end battery farming.

It emerged that the restaurant in Watergate Bay, Newquay, had bought 360 battery eggs after its regular supplier of free-range eggs let them down.

Mr Oliver said it was a 'one-off' and has criticised chefs for failing to stick to strict guidelines when it comes to sourcing the restaurant's food.

Speaking in The Mirror on Wednesday (January 16) he said: "I am speechless. We have cast-iron rules on what any chef can and cannot buy in all Fifteens.

"I can't stop thinking it seems a coincidence this one-off has happened the week my programme airs. I've never been so disappointed. Heads will roll."
