Knight launches new sprayer at LAMMA
Visitors to LAMMA 2011 will have the first sighting of Knight Farm Machinery’s new SP 2050 self-propelled sprayer with 5000-litre tank and booms up to 40 metres, as well as the Raven linkage-mounted cultivator launched by the company this autumn.
The SP 2050 is a completely new design and includes a number of innovative and advanced features that provide high standards of application accuracy, durability and operator comfort. A new chassis design with active self-levelling air suspension deals with uneven ground and gives a smooth, comfortable ride at road speeds.
A 200hp Perkins engine drives through a Poclain Smartdrive system with electronic throttle control and transmission to four heavy-duty Poclain Dynaplus wheel motors. The wheel motors have dynamic braking activated by a foot pedal.
The cab, which has been designed and built in-house by Knight, is mounted on an independent linkage with air suspension to give an extremely comfortable ride for the operator. The fuel tank is positioned between the cab and the engine in order to reduce noise levels in the cab.

The Raven cultivator is the first fully mounted model from Knight. It has a 2.8 metre working width and features multiple soil-working elements with a high degree of adjustability, making it suitable for one-pass cultivations, as a secondary cultivator or as a sub-soiler.
At the front of the machine are three deep sub-soil tines, followed by four or six shallow-working tines with quick-change Speedloc points. Behind the tines are two rows of 500mm-diameter rubber-cushioned discs that can be adjusted hydraulically by the operator from the cab. At the back is a large-diameter packer roll that is also adjustable from the tractor seat and can be folded forward for transport.
