Local Insurer Cornish Mutual reinforces commitment to farming group with sponsorship deal
Cornish Mutual is reinforcing its commitment to Devon’s Young Farmers with a sponsorship deal supporting club activities and the work of the County Chairman over the coming year.
The South West Insurer, which has offices in Exeter, has supported Devon Young Farmers Club in various ways for over 50 years.
The latest agreement will see Cornish Mutual support club events throughout the year including the ’Young Farmer Member of the Year’ and ’The Farm Business Competition’ – an event between members championing rural business development. The sponsorship deal will also assist the work of the Club’s County Chairman, Rob Cann.
The Devon Young Farmers Club has been established since the 1930s and has 37 clubs across the county. Each club offers rural young people, many linked to the farming industry, the opportunity to meet new people, learn skills and help the community. Members often travel abroad together and compete in many competitions with other clubs.
Nick Creasy, county co-ordinator for Devon Young Farmers Club said: "We’re very grateful to Cornish Mutual for their continued support. It means we can offer young people in rural areas across the county the chance to be part of a Young Farmers Club, where they can take part in a wide range of personal development opportunities, as well as fun.
"Many families of our Young Farmers have long standing links with Cornish Mutual and so we’re delighted to keep working with a company, which has the knowledge and understanding of the very local area our members are from."
Alan Goddard, managing director of Cornish Mutual, who was a judge at the YFC Member of the Year competition in Exmouth last weekend added: "We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Devon Young Farmers Club and it’s great to be able to continue working with them to help support the work they do in the local communities and help ensure their social and educational events can keep going."
As well as sponsoring Devon Young Farmers, Cornish Mutual also sponsors Cornwall and Somerset Young Farmers Clubs. Cornish Mutual, which has offices in Exeter and Truro, employs 65 staff across the South West.
