GOVERNMENT WARNING ON GROWTH HORMONES IN PIGS.

The Malaysian Health Ministry has been in meetings with the nations meat and livestock industry key figures, over the weekend over the growing concerns about the use of beta agonist, the growth hormone in the pig farming industry.

There have been 10 farms quarantined, since traces of the drug were found in carcass’s after pigs that had been processed.

The Minister of Health, has set up further meetings with the Federation of Livestock Farmers Association, to reiterate the pledge made in 2007 that was signed by all parties confirming that the drug will not be used.

Spot checks are going to take place at farms and in abattoirs, according to a spokesman for the office of the Minister of Health.
