Milk prices for farmers prices expected to decline

The price Wisconsin farmers get for their milk in July is expected to decline from the June amount and the July 2007 figure.

July prices are expected to average $19.20 per hundredweight, about $1.30 per hundredweight less than in June, according to a monthly report issued Friday by the Wisconsin field office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Through mid-July 2007, the price averaged $22 per hundredweight, according to Press-Gazette archives.

While farmers have seen relatively stable prices for most of the year, they are also facing increases in operating costs ranging from fuel to fertilizer and seed.
