New MicroCast improves granular application
Techneat Engineering launched the all new MicroCast granular nematicide applicator at British Potato 2007 in Harrogate this week (28 - 29 November). Designed bolt-on, plug-in and work 'straight out of the box', the highly versatile MicroCast applicator can be quickly and easily fitted to a planter or bed tiller for accurate granule placement either in-furrow, or evenly spread through fishtail distributors.
Featuring a completely new electronic Rate Control System, developed and manufactured by farm electronics specialists, Robydome, the MicroCast continuously adjust the granule application rate to the monitored ground speed, without the inaccuracy or inconvenience of a land-wheel mechanical drive system. The system can be fitted with an automatic on-off, to start and stop application at the row ends and avoid waste.
"Since the MicroCast does not require a land-wheel drive, it can be quickly fitted in the most convenient place on a planter or tiller with just two bolts," reports Andrew Butcher of Techneat. "There are fewer wearing parts, ensuring a very high level of accuracy, consistency and durability."
The MicroCast utilises the well proven Techneat Apcal Cartridge metering system, with pre-calibrated, long-life ceramic cartridges for all brands of granular nematicide. A double cartridge system is fitted, with gravity feed for up to four outlets. The machine is fitted with a high capacity 30-litre plastic moulded tank.
Where potato growers are also involved with other vegetable crops, the whole MicroCast package can be easily moved onto a vegetable drill for granular application with onion, leek or carrot planting, adds Mr Butcher.
The Techneat MicroCast costs from £1275.
