A new long-life Nemathorin Cartridge from application specialists, Apcal, will both improve the accuracy of granule application rate and reduce the cost of replacement parts. Manufactured from a new precision-formed polymer, the easy to install, pre-set cartridges are designed to maintain accurate application for over 100 hectares from a three outlet cartridge.
The new Nemathorin Cartridge is available in two or three outlet versions, with the polymer rotor inserts now red instead of blue.
The Apcal cartridge replaces conventional rotor metering mechanisms in gravity fed units. Graham Basil of Apcal points out that whilst well set-up and maintained conventional rotor metering mechanisms can achieve accurate and consistent results, there are at least 21 steps in the set-up that could cause potential problems. "Providing cartridge units are simply installed the right way up (with the small openings facing upwards), there is no room for error or further adjustment required.
"The ease and speed at which the cartridges can be installed, combined with the consistent accuracy that can be achieved, has proved extremely popular with operators and growers," he added.
The new Nemathorin Cartridge has a working life of at least 35 hectares per outlet – i.e. 70 hectares for a two outlet cartridge and over 100 hectares for a three outlet version. Mr Basil advises the new cartridge should be fitted and run one way for around 20 hectares per outlet (40 – 60 ha), and then taken out, reversed and refitted for a further 15 hectares per outlet (30 – 45 ha).
Tom Whitworth of Syngenta added: "Nemathorin is extremely effective in minimising yield loss and crop damage from soil pests, including PCN, wireworm and the effects of spraing. Accurate application and even incorporation is crucial to achieve the best possible results."
