Mole Valley Farmers, the UK's largest retail farming cooperative, has developed a ground breaking dairy feed protein that will increase milk output and help reduce nitrogen excretion and its impact on the environment.
ProPass is a specialist protein made from soya and specific sugars, produced in a unique patented heat process. Sugar molecules effectively coat the protein and reduce its degradation in the rumen. The undegradable protein then passes directly into the small intestine. Next, very high levels of this material are actually digested and absorbed into the blood stream. By protecting the protein in the rumen, ProPass helps to ensure that the dairy cow is supplied with the correct amount of metabolisable protein with the appropriate amino acid content.

Developed within the new MVF research and development programme, this pioneering new feed ingredient will help dairy farmers achieve increased milk yields through more precise and cost effective feed rations. It will also help to reduce the nitrogen excreted by the cow in manure.
