New team announced for SESVanderHave

SESVanderHave has announced the team for its newly-formed UK business. Ian Munnery has been appointed General Manager with Richard Robinson as Trials and Research Manager and Colin Fines, Trials Officer.

SESVanderHave, the leading breeder of Sugar Beet varieties, launched SESVanderHave UK Limited at the beginning of 2012 to support the company’s UK sales, trials & research activity. The decision to end the UK representation agreement with Elsoms Seeds is in line with SESVanderHave’s global philosophy of working  directly with growers, advisers, research and commercial organisations in key sugar beet markets.

Ian Munnery had been sugar beet manager for Elsoms Seeds for the past four years where he helped develop the leading UK position for SESVanderHave varieties, such as Bullfinch, Cayman, Lipizzan. He is one of the three British Society of Plant Breeders representatives on the project board which manages the British Beet Research Organisation/BSPB Sugar Beet Recommended List. He also acts as convener for the Sugar Beet crop group within BSPB.

"The SESVanderHave pipeline of new varieties is formidable and I am looking forward to delivering innovative new genetics to UK sugar beet growers over the coming years with a strong UK team," said Mr Munnery.

Richard Robinson brings a wealth of experience, including over 30 years in trials management, to the role of UK Trials and Research Manager. Richard sits on the International Institute for Sugar Beet Research (IIRB) pest and disease group.

The new UK office and trials facility in Wellingore, Lincolnshire is within sight of the Newark Sugar Beet Factory, and the company will have extensive trials across the UK sugar beet growing areas.

SESVanderHave is determined to serve UK sugar beet farmers in an improved and more efficient way, as can be expected from the international market leader in sugar beet seed.
