New Zealand-Pork imports down.
NEW ZEALAND.
PORK IMPORTS DOWN.
Cheap imports of Canadian and Polish pork, are at their lowest for 7 years in New Zealand, giving a much needed boost to local producers.
There have been strong drives in the industry, to market more home grown labeled pork and bacon.
Sam McIvor, from the New Zealand Pork Co, said "there is no doubt that the new country of origin labeling has helped, people here want to know where their meat comes from".
The recent decline in the NZ dollar, is the main contributor to the imports being at such a low level.
