Packing centre to close
Noble Foods has announced that it will be closing its Holsworthy packing operation, which is based in north Devon, as the packer continues to improve efficiency within the business.
Explaining the closure, Noble says the vast majority of eggs from Holsworthy go to customers based on the M4 corridor along with the fact that the site is reaching a point where significant investment is required to bring it up to the standards of the other packing centres within the group. Major investment by Noble has led to egg packing capacity increasing at its other centres as these sites become more efficient.
Producers supplying Holsworthy have been assured that they will continue to receive the best possible collection service with the retention of a transport hub serving farms in Devon and Cornwall. Noble says it is also exploring options to pack eggs locally for smaller regional egg volumes.
