Dairy Pakistan eying 600 modern dairy farms this year:
MULTAN, Mar 05, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Chief Executive Pakistan Dairy Development Company (PDDC), Geoff Walker, said on Thursday that company is looking forward to achieve target of establishing 600 modern dairy farms in South Punjab this year. Addressing a seminar organized by PDDC, commonly known as Dairy Pakistan, Geoff Walker said that company has already set up 127 modern dairy farms, 125 biogas plants and 484 milk cooling tanks in South Punjab. The target of 600 modern dairy farms will be completed this year with the cooperation from cattle rearers.
Walker said that government was committed to bring about white revolution in the country, most importantly its less-developed areas including South Punjab. He said that cattle rearers in Multan and other districts of South Punjab were extracting maximum benefits by following the advice and guidance being offered by PDDC experts.
EDO agriculture Zafaryab Haidar said that model dairy farms set up with the cooperation of PDDC were giving better results and improving financial conditions of dairy farmers. He said that active liaison between livestock department and PDDC will help achieve targets set for taking Pakistan forward in dairy production.
DO livestock Dr. Habibullah Baig said that livestock department was extending full cooperation to PDDC and staff will assist the company and dairy farmers whenever required. PDDC coordinator Dr. Zahid Iqbal and Sarfraz Ahmad also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the owners of modern dairy farms, milk cooling plants and biogas plants shared their experiences with the participants of the seminar and the benefits they extracted by virtue of consultancy and guidance from PDDC. They included Abdur Rehman, Abdur Razzaq, Aizaz Gardezi, Col Iftikhar, Faisal Murtaza, Maqbool, Ghulam Shabbir, Haji Rab Nawaz, Malik Javed, Sarwar Ali, Abu Sufian, and Tahir Ghani Maral.
