Pakistan-Meat and dairy product shortages.
PAKISATAN
DAIRY INDUSTRY.
The president of the Pakistan Livestock and Dairy Farmers Welfare Organization, Haji Mohmood Ellahi, claims there is a shortage of food in the city of Karachi for the dairy cattle housed there.
The recent outbreaks of ethnic violence, is preventing trucks from operating and bringing fresh food into the city.
Equally the same problems are being experienced in getting milk delivered, the hot temperatures and short life of milk, are causing massive losses to dairy farmers.
Ellahi said in a press interview, " we need more fodder to keep our animals alive and producing milk, and we need transportation as milk is a product that cannot keep".
Karachi is just getting over recent problems with the meat industry, every week 20,000 sheep and goats and 2,000 cattle and buffalo, come into the city for slaughter.
