Pakistan-Poultry sales decline.
PAKISTAN.
AVIAN FLU.
There is growing concern in Pakistan about the plight of the poultry industry, that is in turmoil since the recent outbreaks of bird flu, that has swept through Asia.
The drop of poultry sales has been so severe, some traders and butchers have given up on the business or been forced out of the business, according to Dr Mirwais Rabi, the head of the Ministry of Public Health in Mazae e Sharif.
Companies that had ordered large volumes of Halal poultry from Brazil before Xmas, prior to the news of the bird flu, found out when the poultry arrived, that they had no customers willing to buy poultry and opting for beef or mutton.
