CONCERNS ABOUT RISE IN MEAT PRICES.

A price monitoring report by the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics in Manila, shows an increase of 9% on meat and poultry since the Xmas holiday 4 weeks ago.

However farmers are complaining that farm gate prices have remained the same.

With the drop in the price of grain on the world markets, there was an expectation of a reduction in prices, according to the bureau.

The government has launched an investigation into the retail prices of meat and the farm gate prices paid to farmers.
