MEAT PRODUCTION.

There has been a sharp increase in beef production in the Philippines in 2008, with live cattle being imported from Australia.

Beef production was 270,000 tons carcass weight, for the first 10 months of the year.

However pork production was down for the year to 1.3 million tons, a decline of 2%, as palates are changing from traditional white meat to red meat.

Goat slaughter was up producing 63,000 tons of goat meat, there have been numerous shipments of breeding goats, landed in the Philippines from Australia.
