Rovral Liquid FS treated oilseed rape seed has been given the go-ahead by breeders across Europe for soil and seed-borne Alternaria and Phoma control, says BASF.
“More significantly this year germination studies and years of field use across Europe confirm Rovral Liquid FS as having no adverse effects on germination and a positive effect on seed vigour,” says Jonathan Tann, Seed Protection Product Manager for BASF.
“Whatever the moisture levels in treated seed and seedbeds this summer, growers can be confident that their treated seed will germinate at least as well as untreated seed. The treatment will also offer early disease control, helping in the important stage of early establishment and avoiding early plant losses which will reduce yield potential later in the year,” says Jonathan.
Rovral Liquid FS has been the standard seed treatment for oilseed rape for a number of years, improving the crop stand by controlling Alternaria and Phoma. Alternaria at the establishment phase causes damping off, which reduces plant establishment and in severe infections can lead to complete crop failure.
Background Notes – Rovral Liquid FS contains 500 g/l iprodione formulated as a flowable concentrate, packed in a 5 litre pack. Using a conventional seed treatment machine, it is applied to the dry seed of oilseed rape seed for the control of seed-borne Alternaria brassicae, Alternaria brassicicola and other Alternaria species. It is recommended at 5 litres of product per tonne of seed. It is compatible with insecticide treatments such as Chinook (beta-cyfluthrin and imidacloprid) and with thiram. Rovral Liquid FS is also recommended in flax (linseed and fibre types) and seed potatoes.
