RABDF farmer pension survey launch

The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers is seeking producers to take part in its retirement provisions survey, a research initiative designed to establish the current true picture on dairy farms and ultimately provide a percentage figure of earnings to be included in future dairy costings, along side family labour.

"Most employers outside farming either provide a pension or access to a scheme for their employees, where some, if not all of the costs are included in an organisation's labour expenditure," explains RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington. "We believe that dairy farmers should not be treated any differently, yet at the same time we realise that there are a number of ways that farmers can provide for their retirement.

"Working with Hargreaves Lansdown, a leading independent pension specialist and financial adviser, the survey findings will extend our recently updated value on family labour which we are encouraging all producers to include in their farm accounts at 4.43p per litre."

All information supplied will be treated in confidence and no single response will be identified. Survey forms can be downloaded from www.rabdf.co.uk/lobbying alternatively they can be obtained from RABDF's technical and policy adviser, Tom Rabbetts on 0845 458 2711 or email tomrabbetts@rabdf.co.uk
