Romania-Beef Farming.
ROMANIA.
BEEF EXPORTS.
Romania and Bulgaria, used to be two major beef exporting counties in the sixties and seventies.
Both countries then switched to dairy cattle, for the increase in milk production, demanded by the former Soviet Union.
The population of 3.2 million cattle today, means that beef production could now have 400,000 tons available for export each year.
The idea is to cross breed the dairy cows with beef bulls, obtaining sufficient calves for a beef program.
The dairy herd now of 700,000 cows, is sufficient for the counties milk requirements
