RUSSIA-MEAT PRICES UNDER CONTROL.
There will be no fluctuations for poultry and pork prices in a view of change in exchange rates in Russia. Such opinion was expressed by representatives of Rosptitsesoyuz and Pig Breeders Union at the meeting on "Forecasts for the situation in the food market in a view of change in exchange rates" held in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation (Minselkhoz), as the Ministry’s press-service reports.
Apart from that, officials specified that beef prices would depend on import dynamics. As it is specified in the press-release, Russian poultry and pig breeders guaranteed that they would be able to meet domestic demand, providing that poultry import quota had been reduced by 300 thousand tons and pork imported out of quota had been down 200 thousand tons in 2009.
"Within the current economic situation Russian Ministry of Agriculture and industrial unions shall elaborate an agreed tactics for the food market, which will prevent from price hikes", - the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Aleksey Gordeev pointed out.
