Russia to Prolong Restrictions on Meat Imports from Countries with Swine Flu
Russia will prolong the restrictions on imports of pork and pork products which were not heat treated from countries with swine flu cases till June 1st. This decision was taken in the course of Russian governmental committee meeting on prevention measures against entry and spread of diseases caused by high pathogenic virus of influenza in the territory of the Russian Federation under the chairmanship of the deputy chairman of Russian government, Viktor Zubkov, according to Russian governmental press-service.
"The measures taken to prevent spread of so-called swine flu in the territory of the Russian Federation are preventive and appropriate for the threat level determined by WHO and other related Russian agencies", - the Vice Prime Minister underlined when opening the committee meeting.
A special attention was paid to work effected in constituent entities of the Russian Federation. In particular, the regional chiefs were recommended to determine line-ups of special committees on prevention of swine flu spread and head them immediately. The committees will cover implementation of complex plans on carrying out antiepidemic measures. Within the frames of this work, the regional provision with domestic antiviral preparations and other drugs will be verified. The measures on people’s health and their luggage control will be pursued at border checkpoints as well.
