Russia-More countries banned from exporting meat.
RUSSIA-NEW MEAT BANS.
Russia has banned meat imports from some Canadian, American, Uruguayan, Belarusian and Ukrainian enterprises, as Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor) reports. The supply is to be suspended from February 6, 2009 in a view of detection of harmful forbidden substances in animal products supplied from the said enterprises.
The decision on entry of products shipped from the aforementioned enterprises prior to February 6, 2009 to the Russian Federation will be made according to usual procedure.
The list of banned plants includes 2 American poultry plants, 7 Canadian pork producers and one Uruguayan beef producer. Apart from that, another two suppliers, one Belarusian producer (ОАО "Belovezhsky Meat Processing Plant" in a view of detection of doxycycline in pork) and one Ukrainian meat processing plant (OAO "Ivano-Frankovsky Meat Processing Plant" in a view of detection of radiocesium in beef) are specified in the list as well.
