Scammell and Densham
In the professional world serving the rural economy, "Scammell and Densham" will be found on the book shelves of the majority of lawyers and agents and even accountants and other advisers.
This definitive textbook provides a practical analysis of the law of agricultural holdings in an authoritative and accessible manner.
The 9th Edition will be published by Butterworths in October 2007. It has been substantially revised. It contains a fully updated commentary on the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 and the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986, incorporating the changes in the law introduced in 2006 by the Regulatory Reform Order, as well as the steady stream of cases since the last edition in 1997.
The 9th Edition is written by Burges Salmon partner, Peter Williams, who contributed to the last two editions. There are many new additions to the new book including chapters on Remedies; the Recovery of Possession for Non-Agricultural Use; Milk Quota; Notices to Quit Part, Joint Interests and Sub-Tenancies.
The two other contributors to the new book are Burges Salmon partner, Vivienne Williams and Professor Michael Cardwell of Leeds University. Vivienne has revised the Disputes Resolution section, including to take account of the fact that the 1986 Act no longer has a unique arbitration code. Michael has contributed a new chapter on the Mid-term Review of the Common Agricultural Policy.
Peter trained at Burges Salmon, joining the firm in 1980. Throughout his career he has specialised in agricultural law. Under his leadership, Burges Salmon has been described in Chambers Legal Directory as "The pole star for agriculture by which other firms across the UK navigate their positions".
The latest edition of legal guide book 'Scammell and Densham's Law of Agricultural Holdings' is set to be launched to the agricultural world in October 2007, under new editorial direction.
