The Churned, Yeo Valley’s new farming-inspired boyband, has broken chart history by entering this week’s Official Singles Chart at no.67.
No other branded advertising soundtrack has ever entered the Official Singles Chart at a higher position, and the song’s success looks set to continue with the support of famous fan, Matt Cardle, who revealed on this morning’s Daybreak that he thought The Churned were the best thing on TV right now.
Ben Cull at Yeo Valley said: ’We’re thrilled to hear that The Churned’s debut single is already making headway in the Official Singles Chart. We created ’Forever’ to convey our passion for sustainable farming, delicious organic produce and to showcase our West Country roots. After the music video aired during last Saturday night’s X Factor we received an amazing response on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, with numerous comments calling for us to be Number 1! With this mid-week position, The Churned’s debut single has already beaten Yeo Valley’s rap, which last year reached No.71 at its highest position. We’re looking forward to seeing where ’Forever’ will reach in the charts this weekend.’
The song’s record label, The Most Radicalist Black Sheep Music, worked exclusively with highly acclaimed songwriter and producer Si Hulbert to write and produce the music for Yeo Valley’s 2011 campaign, using lyrics drafted by BBH creatives Martin Reid & Jonny Durgan. Hulbert’s credits include Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Cee Lo Green, Flo Rida and Sugababes.
Lauren Kreisler at The Official Charts Company, said: "The Official Charts Company are fascinated to see Yeo Valley’s ’second single’ making such impressive waves in the music and social media world since its debut in The X Factor ad break on Saturday night. With The Churned’s ’Forever’ entering the Top 75 in today’s Official Chart Update, it is an incredibly close race indeed towards the Top 40 this weekend. Can a bunch of organic-loving singing farmers break through this Sunday? Theofficialcharts.com team are excited to find out!"
The Churned set Twitter and Facebook alight when ’Forever’ debuted on Saturday during the first ad break of The X Factor live shows on ITV1. The video has since clocked up over 230,000 plays on YouTube (www.youtube.com/yeotube) and has generated 10.8million tweet impressions.
Fans of the song can win the chance to star in the final Yeo Valley TV ad of the series which will air during The X Factor live final on Sunday 11th December, by entering a karaoke competition to sing-along with The Churned on the Yeo Valley Facebook page.
