PRAISE FOR THE IRISH
The Deputy President of the National Farmers Union (NFU),led a fact finding mission to the Republic of Ireland, to look at the Irish TB Eradication scheme last year.
When the Mission returned to the UK, Meurig Raymond said "The strategy in Ireland is a good example of joint working and efficient resource and shows how investing money in a sensible way can bring about control".
Ireland has reduced the number of TB Reactors from in excess of 100,000 per year to around 20,000 a year, whereas the UK has an increase of incidents which is up 22 %.
