UNITED KINGDOM-BLACKBURN BUTCHER IN COURT
A North West butcher has been fined a total of £2,000 after health officers described the premises as "dirty and dangerous."
Nazir Hussain,39, of Mohammed and Sons of Blackburn admitted breaching food hygiene and health and safety regulations during a hearing before Blackburn magistrates.
The court heard that when health officers from Darwen council visited the premises they found an electrical cutting saw without a guard, cardboard being used on the butcher’s block and evidence of food debris and dried and spilled blood.
Hussain was fined £800 with £1,400 costs.
After the case a council spokesman commented: "It’s not acceptable for shops to be in this condition, and we have a clear duty to take action to protect both the public and employees.
