United Kingdom-Guardian claims slaves working on farms in Brazil.

BRAZIL.

4,400 Slaves released from Brazilian farms in the last year, according to a report in England Guardian newspaper on Saturday 3 January.

The article states that the government of Brazil in fact have an anti-slavery-taskforce, that have obtained the release of 4,634 people, who were being kept in bondage to work on farms.

The former slaves have been paid US$3.6 million in compensation according to the article.

The article reports the matter in detail naming names, yet nothing of the story has appeared in the newspapers in Latin America, the concerns about the rain forests and blaming the cattle ranchers is in fact a tabloid myth.

Brazil could double the cattle populations and graze the herd comfortably without cutting down one single tree.

There is no shortage of land in Brazil for farming, in fact there are some very cheap sugar farms on the market with no buyers interested, that have lost 30% in value in recent months owing to the slump in commodity prices
