United Kingdom-Harvesting organs for humans.
UNITED KINGDOM.
ORGAN HARVESTING.
Lord Winston, the UK fertility expert, is to start breeding pigs in order to produce body parts for transplanting into humans.
The organs specifically hearts, livers, kidneys will be used for organ harvesting.
The matter is raising so much controversy in the media that one would think it was new.
In 1954 there was a company called WM Derricks, based at Hatfield in Hertfordshire, who placed deep freezes in every abattoir in England of reasonable size, then collected on a monthly basis, pigs heart valves, pancreas for insulin collection and calves rennets for making cheese.
The pigs heart valves were indeed very successful, one can assume that the full heart is only a natural extension of this 50 year old process, bearing in mind the first human heart transplant, by DR Christian Barnard was not until 1968.
Sheep’s intestines that are used for sausage casings, were also used for tennis racket strings and cat gut for stitching (sutures) in hospitals
