Police investigate sheep attack

UNITED KINGDOM-DOG ATTACK.

A sheep has been badly injured during an attack on the Isle of Man, said police.

The animal was on farm land in Patrick, Peel when it was attacked by what is believed to be a loose dog between Saturday midday and Sunday morning.

Officers are urging dog owners to keep their dogs under control, especially through the lambing season.

It comes a month after Manx National Farmers’ Union said farmers were able to shoot dogs seen near their sheep.

Anyone with information about the attack should contact Peel police station.

PC Michelle McKillop said: "Not only are sheep and lambs at risk of death but the dogs themselves may face fatal consequences in certain circumstances and the owners may additionally be held financially responsible."
