United Kingdom-World meat importing nations.
MEAT IMPORTS.
The leading meat importing counties of the world, excluding the United States, are all facing problems of credit from bankers.
The only exceptions are the Middle East countries, who are buying beef and lamb from Australia and New Zealand and poultry from Brazil.
This puts Australia and NZ, in a very strong position for the rest of the year, compared with South America.
Russian imports for 2008, were 1.01 million tons, Japan 675,000 tons, Mexico 440,000 tons, European Union 400,000 tons, Egypt 225,000 tons and Malaysia 185,000 tons.
Projections and forecasts for 2009, were considerably higher, prior the economic meltdown that began in September of 2008.
