United States-Bomb threat closes pork plant.

UNITED STATES-BOMB THREAT AT MEAT WORKS.

Quality Pork Processors on Wednesday evacuated its Austin, Minn., processing plant after the company received a bomb threat, according to the Austin Daily Herald.

Details were scarce as of late Wednesday afternoon. Austin Police Chief Paul Philipp was quoted as saying only that QPP "elected to remove employees from the plant." QPP employs more than 1,300 people.

Philipp told the local newspaper that the incident is still under investigation. He could not be reached by Meatingplace for comment.

QPP also could not be reached for comment. It wasn’t clear for how long production was disrupted.

QPP is a co-packer with Hormel Foods, its only customer. An adjacent Hormel plant was not impacted by the reported bomb threat, the Herald reported.
